Just the Facts
I created this blog because (1) I have a great deal of obscure knowledge about the legal underpinnings of horse racing and (2) I’m opinionated. Legal issues in horse racing, as well as other areas of the horse industry, are prominent in the news right now, so if you want to read about the legal background behind the headlines, as well as legal issues in other areas of the horse world, you might find something interesting here.
This is not, however, to be interpreted as legal advice. Nor should you seek legal advice from me. I am merely a humble law clerk at a county circuit court who is awaiting the results of the July Bar Exam. Thus, I am not a licensed attorney. And they give us a pretty good scare as to what happens if we attempt to practice law illegally (seriously), thus the disclaimer. The opinions on these pages are my own and are not affiliated with any law firm or the court at which I clerk.
I am also human. If I make a mistake, let me know, and I’ll correct it.
About Me
I’m a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Law in Lexington, Kentucky. While I’ve mainly worked and ridden in the sport horse side of the horse industry, I’ve loved racing since 1989, when I fell in love with Sunday Silence and had my heart broken when Easy Goer bested him in the Belmont.

Very nice to meet you, Kerry. So glad to have another wordpress blogger covering horse racing. There’s only a chosen few of us!
The forums at wordpress are a good place to get tips, plug your posts, and engage in random ridiculousness – I’ve met some great folks there like Raincoaster and Sulz – plus I get to excercise my bizarre sense of humor on something non horse-racing related.

Kerry — good luck to you in your legal career. I am with a Silicon Valley firm that specializes in high tech clients. We have a few attorneys who have/love horses. I will continue to review your blog.
